Raymarine C80 – Navigation Was Never So Easy
Navigating through the ocean has always been a difficult task, and in the past it required many skills. In order to track the ship’s course and continue to know its position, a navigator would have to make many precise calculations (based on speed, time, and direction) using tools like the compass, sextant, or log. The navigator had to be vigilant in every area of his work, as one simple inconsistency in his calculations could spell the difference between life and death.
Nowadays, however, most mariners use marine GPS chartplotters to navigate. With the modern GPS system, in which a receiver on your boat interprets signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, you can know your exact location to within a few feet.
A wide variety of functions are combined into one single compact display, making the Raymarine C80 the perfect choice for your vessel. It contains inputs for GPS Sensor, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Marine Weather, HD Digital sounder module, and at any time can be configured as a stand-alone chartplotter, digital fishfinder, or radar. With the Raymarine C80 on board you can be rest assured that running into sharp rocks or a freak storm will never happen, and the best fishing locations will always be easy to locate.
The Raymarine C80 contains an intuitive display interface, which even beginners will be able to use in no time at all. Custom windows are also available to create which can contain a combination of the chartplotter, radar, or sonar. Thanks to the Twist N’ Click™ Rotary control, alphanumeric waypoint storage is also provided. Using advanced LCD display technologies, the C80 sports a beautiful 8.4” direct sunlight viewable, 256 color waterproof display, and has an excellent contrast and wide angle. It also uses prismatic light enhancing screens, complete with integrated anti-glare filters, in order to keep the display sharp and clear throughout even the most challenging lighting conditions. With the Raymarine C80 on board, you never need to worry about extreme weather conditions.
If you want to configure the C80 to act as a stand-alone GPS chartplotter, all you need to do is simply connect an optional Raystar GPS Sensor and choose Navionics charts, in order to display the GPS charting system. The chartplotter sports such advanced features as support for professional quality Navionics vector charts on CompactFlash, fast chart screen redraw, 256 color high resolution display, AIS Target tracking, on-screen VHF DSC position reports, and Loran TD positioning mode, among many other things. It also features an intelligent “Auto Range” mode, which maintains your vessel and your waypoint on the best chart scale while underway. This state-of-the-art GPS system is what makes the Raymarine C80 one of the best chartplotters available.
If fishing is your thing, then no problem! The Raymarine C80 chartplotter can also be configured to act as a super fishfinder with HD Digital™ technology, and utilizing an optional Raymarine Digital Sounder Module. Using HD Digital adaptive receiver technology, fish and bottom structure are targeted with amazing clarity, up to a maximum depth of 5000 ft. (1700 meters.) Additional options include Bottom lock, A-Scope, and zoom modes. More than 220 sonar parameters per second are automatically adjusted, thanks to hands free HD Digital technology, and it is because of this that clutter is almost completely eliminated. It’s the perfect tool for beginner and experienced mariners alike.
By connecting an optional radome or open-array antenna to any Raymarine C Series display, you can easily create an advanced radar system. The system offers many advanced features upon activation including MARPA (Mini-Automatic-Radar-Plotting-Aid) target tracking, waypoint navigation and multiple waypoint overlay, and AIS Target tracking using the optional Raymarine AIS250. Enhanced target returns are provided through every range scale, due to advanced microprocessor controlled transmitter-receivers which feature 8 pulse width/PRF settings. If loud noises bother you, then rejoice, because the receiver has a low noise figure (less than 5 dB), and Auto GST™ fully automatic gain, sea clutter, and tune control.
