Best Stained Glass "Gun" themed project? (Metalwork)?
I have to do a project for Metalwork, and we are doing Stained glass, as in soldering gun, sal ammoniac block, copper, etc.
I chose to make it Gun themed like an Ak-47, or G36C. Any tips on finding the right gun to make? I like the guns from Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War, but mainly CoD 4. I can't seem to find the "right" gun to do.
Thanks in advance!
Answer:
I suggest recreating an antique gun for your stained glass project, such as the guns of the Civil War.
Common Guns in the Civil War:
-32 Colt 1849
Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver:
The first Colt revolver to be made in large numbers was the Model 1849 in 31 caliber. Around 325,000 were marked as made in New York or Hartford between 1850 and 1873, and another 11,000 marked as made in London, England. More of this model were made then any other Colt revolver in the 19th century. It had a five or six shot cylinder with barrels in lengths of 3", 4", 5" and 6". Some of these pocket models had cylinders engraved with a scene of a stagecoach holdup.

-32 S&W No. 2
32 Smith and Wesson No. 2:
Smith and Wesson brought out their No. 2 Model in 32 rimfire in 1861, just in time for the Civil War. Of the 77,000 made from 1861 to 1874, approximately 35,700 were made during the War. The rimfire metallic cartridge was a recent invention when Smith & Wesson put this model into production. Smith & Wesson's first successful revolver was their No. 1 Model in 22 Short that came out in 1857. The Henry rifle and it's 44 rimfire cartridge had just been introduced in 1860 when the 32 rim fire made its debut. The Henry 44 rimfire in a revolver (didn't happen until Colt made such a revolver in 1872) would compare favorably with handgun cartridges used today for serious self defense, such as the 38 Special. But the 32 rimfire would not. Using average numbers, the muzzle energy for the 44 Henry when used in a revolver is 270 (technical name is foot pounds of energy). For the 36 & 44 cap and ball revolvers commonly used in the Civil War, about 170. But the 32 rimfire is only about 100. Yes, it is dangerous, and can be lethal, but an invigorated adversary can more easily absorb hits from a 32 rimfire and continue the fight even if they are to die several days later.

-36 Colt 1851
Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver:
One of the most popular of Civil War revolvers was the Colt Model 1851 in 36 caliber. Around 250,000 were made by Colt between 1850 and 1873. It had a six shot cylinder and a 7-1/2" octagonal barrel. The standard cylinder featured an engraved scene of a naval battle. The Navy designation meant it was 36 caliber. 44 Caliber were known as Army, but both terms are merely convenient marketing designations. This model was carried by such different men as the Confederate Commanding General, Robert E. Lee, and later the Sheriff of Abilene, Wild Bill Hickock.

Tips On Overcoming Writers Block.
If there's one thing that every writer hates, then it has to be the writer's block in time restricted situations. While not new and almost every writer deals with it from time to time, if you find you are having writers block, what matters is the steps you take to get rid of it.
Keep From Forcing Yourself: If you try to force yourself, you could make it that much more difficult, so try to go with the flow and get comfortable with the actual writing process. Putting external pressure on yourself can block your creativity, so just try to do your best and take things easy. The enjoyment of the writing process is the one thing each writer should focus on. If you can't really have fun with what you're writing, then chances are that you'll have to force yourself into it, which may make things worse instead of making them better. Trying to force yourself to write is like trying to force yourself to sleep when you have insomnia. The first draft of an article and sometimes even just the first sentence can seem so difficult, so its better to just walk away from it for a while and let your creative mind flow freely.
Create an Outline: Going blank in the mind can be a scary experience as a writer as you wouldn't know what to write about and how to go about the whole process. It is important to learn how to relax and first to write an outline for your idea so that there is at least a basic map in place.
Most of the time writer's block happens to writers who don't have a lot of project clarity: outlines help map out what to do and at what time so that you get that clarity back. Just sketch out your primary points on paper so that you have something real to work with. The nice thing about an outline is that it provides the opportunity to focus on your project one piece at a time. Don't think about flow right now or as you are writing your outline; you can add or remove points later to help with clarity. Try to remember that it is easier to fill in some blanks than to write on a blank screen.
Stop Thinking and Write: Lots of us go through writer's block because we are too busy thinking and planning and not actually taking action. You need to go ahead and jump into the writing instead of letting yourself think too much about the planning and hoping things will go the way you want them to.
The hardest part of writing is beginning, after you start things will get simpler. If you get frustrated because you're thinking too much put it down and come back to it later. When you come back to it actually start writing.
Writers especially need to take care to keep the distractions at bay especially if they can exacerbate your writer's block. You have to try and stay away from any situation that would make it easier for you to fall into the writer's block.
